About
A seva project for reading Gurbani
Gurbani Prakash builds free tools that make Gurbani easier to read, hear and understand. There is no subscription, no advertising and nothing to sign up for.
Why it exists
Many people want to keep a daily Nitnem or work through a Sehaj Path and run into the same handful of obstacles: uncertainty about pronunciation, losing the place while audio plays, not knowing what a line means, no Gutka Sahib to hand, and no way to hold a routine together.
Each tool here addresses one of those directly, and all of them are free.
What is here
Gurbani Read Along
The reader. Play a bani or an ang and the word being recited stays lit while you read. Tap any word to hear it again. It covers the Nitnem banis and all 1430 angs of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, works in any browser, installs to a home screen, and is on the App Store and Play Store.
Abhyas
The practice companion. It records how long you read, keeps a Sehaj Path bookmark and reading statistics, counts Shabad Mala repetitions, and supports the Sampuran, Nanaksar and Damdami Taksal maryadas. It includes the Sundar Gutka banis, Punjabi, Hindi and English translations, the Bhai Sahib Singh and Faridkot teekas, vishraam marks, larivaar, and first-letter search across the whole of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
Gurbani AI
Ask a question and get an answer quoted from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji with the Ang cited. It is built and running, and not yet open to the public. How it works and what would open it.
Where the text comes from
Gurbani text is taken from the BaniDB API by the Khalis Foundation. Translations shown are the ones published with that corpus, including the Bhai Sahib Singh teeka. Nothing is retyped and no translation is written by us or by a model.
Audio recordings are sourced from publicly available recitations, including those by Bhai Jarnail Singh Ji, Giani Mehnga Singh Ji and Giani Thakur Singh Ji, and are used solely for devotional, non-commercial purposes. If you hold rights to a recording used here and want it removed, please write and it will be taken down promptly.
What makes the reader different
Audio-synchronized reading is the piece that took the work. Every word carries a timing mark, so hearing and reading stay together instead of drifting apart. That closes the gap for anyone learning paath, for children, and for anyone who has ever lost their place in a recording and given up.
Who made it
Gurbani Prakash was conceived and built as seva by Dr. Prabhjot Singh Bajwa. It is not a commercial project and there is no intention to make it one.
